Richard D. Kaye

 

Richard D. Kaye was the Associate Producer of the 1974 GRAMMY AWARD WINNING "Best Children's Recording" THE LITTLE PRINCE narrated by Richard Burton. In 1986 Richard purchased THE LITTLE PRINCE sound recording from LP Ventures. Since acquiring copyright ownership to the master, Richard has licensed distribution rights to Cassette Book Company, Newman Communications and Warner Bros./Music For Little People and in July 2004 he re-released THE LITTLE PRINCE audio CD on rdkRecords.

Richard worked as a consultant to SONY/ATV MUSIC for five years. He served on the Board of Directors of BROADWAY ON SUNSET and was a music consultant for the Second annual West Coast Theatre Conference, featuring keynote speaker Julie Taymor. In December 2003 Richard produced "GARBO... the Musical" at The Court Theatre, West Hollywood, California.

From 1978 through 2002, Richard administrated music publishing companies for the internationally renowned theatre rock group The TUBES and was co-administrator of The TUBES/David Foster #1 Billboard rock song SHE'S A BEAUTY.

Doing business as VIRGIN EAR MUSIC, Richard published the Jimmy Osmond international hit song LONG HAIRED LOVER FROM LIVERPOOL. The record stayed at #1 on the UK pop charts for six consecutive weeks and was designated the New Musical Express "best selling single" of its release year. 

Richard has administrated hundreds of licensed recordings, including songs featured on gold records by the Pointer Sisters, Bonnie Raitt, John Waite, Kingdom Come, Steve Hackett (of Genesis), Nina Hagen, Blues Magoos and The Tubes. VIRGIN EAR MUSIC copyrights have recently been licensed to television for: Third Watch, Felicity, Dawsons' Creek, BBC, MTV and VH1 networks.

Prior to forming his own company Richard worked with the early BILLY JOEL song catalog, as Professional Manager for HOME GROWN MUSIC. While living in New York City, Richard worked as an independent record producer for Mercury Records and Capitol Records.

Richard attended Berklee School of Music where he majored in arranging and composition.
